This is the story of a beluga whale named Hvaldimir and a fisherman named Joar Hesten. When the fisherman and former whaler рɩᴜпɡed into the icy Arctic waters to free Hvaldimir from the harness that had been placed on the whale, both of their lives were forever changed.
When this mystical white creature emerged in the icy Arctic waters of Norway, near the Russian border, it didn’t go unnoticed. American activists rushed in, Hollywood took an interest, and Saudi moпeу poured in. The charming beluga whale quickly became an Instagram sensation, capturing hearts around the world.
When the commotion settled, Joar returned to his home in the south, and Hvaldimir did the same. But in the summer of 2020, the whale appeared in the fjord next to Joar’s home. That summer and fall, the former whaler visited the whale, cared for it, and argued with the troublesome fish farmers about the best way to protect it.
