The talented Manchester City and Argentina striker, Julián Álvarez, recently shared his list of the 5 greatest players of all time in his personal opinion – and it’s no surprise that all of these names are legends who changed the history of world football.

Lionel Messi – Not only is Álvarez’s compatriot but also his idol. Messi is described by Álvarez as “the most complete player who has ever lived – a genius who can do everything with the ball.” With hundreds of goals, countless titles and the 2022 World Cup, Messi is obviously Álvarez’s number 1.
Diego Maradona – The immortal legend of Argentina, who has inspired a generation. According to Álvarez, “Maradona was the soul of football – a player who played with his heart and the pride of his people.”
Alfredo Di Stéfano – A great monument of Real Madrid, who laid the foundations for the era of dominance of “Los Blancos”. Álvarez praised him as “a leader, a symbol of perfection in classical football.”
