In July 2021, our lives changed forever. Our beloved son, just three years old at the time, was diagnosed with a soft tissue tumor in the upper part of his left thigh. The news was shocking and devastating. A small, innocent child—full of life, laughter, and curiosity—was suddenly facing a battle no one should ever have to endure. The tumor was surgically removed immediately, and without delay, he began a grueling 52-week course of chemotherapy.
Those first months were extremely difficult. Watching our little boy undergo painful treatments, cope with side effects, and endure the physical and emotional toll of chemotherapy was heart-wrenching. Yet, after six months, there was a glimmer of hope—our son entered remission. For a brief period, it seemed that the worst was behind us, and we dared to hope for normal days again, filled with laughter and childhood innocence.
But hope was fleeting. Six months later, a follow-up PET-CT scan revealed metastases to his bladder. The joy and relief we had felt turned into fear and despair. Once again, our child faced a life-threatening challenge. Following medical advice, he underwent four more cycles of chemotherapy. When the tumor shrank sufficiently, surgery was performed in October 2023 to remove the cancer from his bladder. We thought we might finally be turning a corner—but the fight was far from over.
In March 2024, another cycle of treatment began, consisting of six courses of chemotherapy. We planned to follow this with a bone marrow transplant, the procedure that could give our son a real chance at life. On September 1, 2024, we traveled to India for the transplant preparations. Tests were performed, and the first cycle of chemotherapy was administered. We had hope, but our journey took another unexpected turn. After consulting with doctors at Gülhane Hospital in Turkey, we decided to transfer our son’s treatment to Ankara. There, three more cycles of chemotherapy were administered, but complications arose. He developed a severe infection, along with kidney and lung problems. Our hearts sank as we realized the complexity and severity of his condition.
Desperate for hope, we searched tirelessly for experts who could handle cases like our son’s. A few days ago, we arrived at a specialized clinic in Istanbul, where doctors began immediate treatment. Kidney complications and a lung infection were diagnosed and addressed, and finally, we began to see signs of improvement. Another chemotherapy session is scheduled for Thursday, bringing us one step closer to stabilizing his condition and preparing for the life-saving bone marrow transplant.
The plan is clear: continue treatment, destroy the remaining cancer cells, and reach a point where the transplant can be performed safely. This procedure could save his life, giving him the chance to grow up, play, and enjoy the childhood every child deserves. Yet, the financial burden of this treatment is overwhelming. After so many years of fighting, our resources are completely exhausted. We simply cannot cover these enormous costs on our own.
That is why we are reaching out for help. Every penny, every act of generosity, is a step toward saving our son’s life. We are asking for support from anyone who can help us give him a future. Our son is fighting with every ounce of his strength, but without external support, his survival remains uncertain. We cannot allow our beloved child to die after all he has endured.
