Gorgeous country home in Oregon features barn-like details

Olson Kundig Architects created a beautiful country garden home in Portland, Oregon that respects the lush environment that surrounds it. This 5,300 square foot dwelling was designed to maximize views of the surrounding gardens and rolling hills. It also provides warm and comfortable spaces to meet the lifestyle needs of a multi-generational family. The exterior facade is clad in reclaimed barnwood, evoking a farm structure or even a greenhouse with its gridded fenestration and high pitched roof. Tall windows flank either side of the main volume, flooding the interiors with natural light.

What We Love: This magnificent country home offers a tranquil setting that can be enjoyed throughout the interiors of this home. We are loving the design of the exterior facade, with it’s barn-like aesthetic and beautiful use of materials. This lovely aesthetic is carried into the interior, creating a wonderful environment for family gathering.

A long corridor provides a separation between the more intimate bedroom spaces and the main living spaces. This home is designed for a master gardener, so it was important that the gardens be visible from every room.
