While spending a day at the beach, Valia found herself being chased by a stray dog. Little did she know that this seemingly ordinary situation would lead to a wonderful discovery. Valia is no stranger to helping animals in need and often helps those who are sick, malnourished, or injured. In Athens, where she resides, it is not uncommon to see stray animals wandering around.

Back in August 2017, a cute little puppy stumbled upon a stray dog while walking on the beach. Despite the fact that the stray dog appeared to be perfectly fine and didn’t seem to need any help, the puppy felt a sense of vulnerability emanating from him. Thus, he decided to take action and lend a helping hand to the little fellow.

As Orfanidou massaged the tummy of the little dog lying on its back, she observed that although it had nobody to take care of it, it was still full of love to give. The dog was craving for attention, as Orfanidou shared with The Dodo.

As he gazed at the adorable puppy, he suddenly recognized that it was a female. The little one spent her days frolicking on the sandy beach, chasing after cars and people for some companionship. It was evident that she craved attention. “I didn’t sleep for two nights, racking my brain for a solution to get her off that beach as fast as possible,” Orfanidou recalled.

One day, he reached his limit and decided to bring her along in his car. During the ride, she was given the name Blue, inspired by the water that surrounded her during her early days. Despite finding a savior, Blue still required a forever home. Luckily, at the same time, a family from the Netherlands had just lost one of their dogs. The Folkerts immediately fell in love with Blue and through the assistance of the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS), they were able to adopt her.

Orfanidou had discussions with Folkerts to assess whether Blue would be a suitable addition to their family, which already included other pets such as a dog and several cats. Thanks to the assistance of Animal Association International (AAI), Blue was able to travel to the Netherlands within one week. Fortunately, from the outset, everything went smoothly. According to Karin Folkerts, Rincewind, who accompanied them, instantly developed affection towards Blue. This was an incredibly heartwarming experience, as Blue was warmly welcomed into the family and quickly became closest friends with Rincewind.

Blue underwent training to become a therapy dog and regularly visited a nursing home where she brought joy to the residents whenever they laid eyes on her.
