A Story of Survival: Mikołaj’s Fight for Life and the Hope for a Better Future. c

My name is Mikołaj, and from the moment I entered this world, I faced more than any baby should have to endure. I spent the first year of my life in the hospital, fighting for every breath, every tiny gasp that kept me alive. My journey, one of constant struggle and pain, began the moment I was born. I was small, blue, and unable to breathe on my own. The world I was born into was a cold, unfamiliar place. Instead of the warmth of my mother’s arms, I felt the harshness of the incubator. And while doctors and nurses worked tirelessly around me, I felt isolated, terrified, and alone in a world I had just entered.

Despite the odds, the doctors managed to stabilize me temporarily. But my fight wasn’t over. I learned that my heart wasn’t functioning properly, and I needed urgent surgery. At that moment, I had no idea what was happening, only that I was caught in a constant battle just to survive. My body was too fragile to keep up with the world around me, and the constant beeping of machines made it impossible to calm down.

But the challenges didn’t stop there. As if things weren’t hard enough, I started experiencing terrible pain in my stomach. It felt like someone was constantly squeezing it, or drilling holes in it. Sometimes, the pain was so intense that I felt like I was dying from the inside. I couldn’t sleep, and the agony kept me awake for hours. It was a pain that seemed unending, and I couldn’t understand why it was happening to me.

After a series of tests and procedures, doctors finally discovered the cause: necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a serious condition that affects the intestines. But just when it seemed like the worst was behind me, the nightmare continued. During a complicated procedure to treat my intestines, my body was punctured, requiring yet another emergency surgery. This time, the doctors had to create a stoma, an artificial anus, to help me survive.

But life wasn’t done testing me yet. During this procedure, I developed an infection, and my body went into septic shock. I had a high fever, and my body trembled with severe convulsions. I could barely open my eyes, and my breathing became fast and shallow. Once again, it felt like I was dying, and it seemed like there was no way out. But the doctors didn’t give up on me. Even though I was given seven blood transfusions, my will to survive remained strong. I kept fighting, and against all odds, I’m still here today.

Though my survival has been nothing short of a miracle, my journey is far from over. I still face a future filled with uncertainty. My kidneys are failing, and I know I will need ongoing care to manage this condition. This is where I need your help. My family and I are struggling to afford the medications, rehabilitation, specialist appointments, and even basic hygiene products that I need to live with dignity. Each day is a struggle, and the financial burden is immense.

This is why I’m turning to you, kind-hearted individuals, for help. Your donations can provide me with the resources I need to survive and, hopefully, get back to a healthier life. Every little bit counts—whether it’s helping to pay for medications, covering the costs of doctor’s visits, or providing basic necessities, your support means the world to me.

I am not giving up. Despite the odds, I continue to fight, and I have hope for a future where I can experience life the way I was meant to. But I can’t do it alone. Your kindness and generosity are my last hope for a chance at a better life.

Please, if you can, help me on this journey. With your support, I believe I can make it through the challenges ahead and one day live a life that’s free from pain and suffering. Thank you for being my hope, and for giving me the chance to dream of a healthier, happier future.
