From the moment our precious daughter, Laura, was born, she has been fighting. As parents, we always believed that the immense love we showered upon her, even before her birth, would protect her from the challenges of life.
We dreamed of a world where she would thrive, healthy and strong, surrounded by the love of her family. Unfortunately, that dream has been shaken by a reality we never anticipated. Despite the love, Laura has had to battle a series of health issues from the moment she entered the world.
Laura was born with congenital heart defects, a linea alba hernia, low muscle tone, and Down syndrome. These conditions have brought many difficulties, including the necessity of multiple surgeries and continuous medical care. Laura’s first surgery, which addressed her severe shortness of breath, was just the beginning of her medical journey. We are now preparing for another operation in April, followed by surgery for her hernia. These operations are vital to her health, but they come with the weight of worry, fear, and the financial burden of ongoing medical expenses.
The journey has not been easy, and we’ve spent countless nights wondering how we can give our daughter everything she needs. Laura’s condition requires constant medical attention, and we’ve had to travel from our home in Pomerania to Warsaw every month for check-ups, tests, and visits to various specialists. These trips, which are essential for her health, not only take a toll on her physically but also place a strain on our family’s budget. The costs of travel, accommodations, and medical treatments are overwhelming. As much as we try, the financial burden is becoming too much for us to bear.
But it’s not just the surgeries and medical visits that are required to ensure Laura has the best chance at a healthy future. She also needs intensive rehabilitation. These therapies are crucial for her development, as they will help her achieve important milestones that many other children reach more easily. With her health conditions, Laura’s path will be more difficult, but with the right support, we believe she can achieve much of what other children do. We want to see her smile, run, play, and grow—just like any other child. But for that to happen, she needs continuous care and therapies that we cannot provide alone.
