From the moment Zuzia was born, life demanded courage far beyond her years. A tiny miracle, she arrived after an emergency cesarean section when her last prenatal ultrasound raised alarm bells.

Separated from her parents immediately, she faced hydrocephalus and a back hernia that was closed at birth. Only years later did her parents learn that Zuzia could have been operated on while still in the womb—but the opportunity was missed. Her journey toward mobility began from that first moment of fragility, filled with medical uncertainty and endless challenges.
From childhood, Zuzia underwent rehabilitation to help her move, sit, and stand. Early interventions, however, were guided by outdated methods that failed to support proper upright positioning. As a result, her feet and knees developed in ways that complicated future surgical options. Despite these setbacks, her parents never stopped fighting, searching tirelessly for solutions. Countless tests, consultations, and medical appointments became a daily routine, a relentless pursuit of hope in a system that could offer little certainty.

Years of perseverance finally brought a glimmer of light. Through the guidance of a world-renowned U.S. specialist, Dr. David Feldman, Zuzia’s parents discovered a chance to restore her mobility. Dr. Feldman offered a groundbreaking procedure that could repair her feet, knees, and hips in a single incision, giving her the possibility to walk independently for the first time. With the support of generous donors, over 350,000 złoty was raised, bringing the dream within reach. For the first time, it felt as though the long years of struggle might bear fruit.
But fate tested their resolve again. A trip to Warsaw for surgery was delayed by COVID-19, and during the second attempt, Zuzia’s spinal condition had worsened dramatically. The curvature of her spine had progressed so severely that no anesthesiologist would perform the surgery due to the extreme risk. Her parents faced the devastating truth: the only hope now was an extraordinarily complex surgery in the United States, the only place capable of giving Zuzia the chance to walk.

The proposed treatment was demanding. Zuzia would first undergo six months of stretching in a specialized device to prepare her skin and spine for surgery. Time, however, was not on their side. Every passing day worsened the spinal deformity, making the operation more dangerous. Dr. Feldman warned her parents to prepare for every eventuality, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
This new chapter of their fight required enormous sacrifices. The family would have to relocate temporarily, leave jobs behind, and gather an almost unimaginable sum of money to cover the costs. Estimates suggest the treatment could cost between two and four million złoty—a staggering amount for any family. Yet despite the overwhelming challenges, Artur and Katarzyna Kaproń remain resolute. Their love for Zuzia fuels their determination, giving them the strength to face the seemingly impossible.

Zuzia, now 12 years old, has already endured more pain and suffering than most could imagine. Her spirit remains unbroken, and her desire to walk independently gives her family hope that all the sacrifices and struggles are not in vain. This is more than a medical procedure—it is the chance to reclaim a childhood full of movement, independence, and freedom from constant physical limitations.
Every donation, no matter the size, represents a step toward that future. Each act of kindness brings Zuzia closer to walking, to playing, and to living a life that countless children take for granted. Artur and Katarzyna appeal to the generosity of others to stand with them in this critical moment, to help their daughter grasp a future she has been fighting toward her entire life.

Zuzia’s story is a testament to courage, resilience, and unwavering parental love. It is a reminder that hope can exist even in the most desperate circumstances, and that with compassion and support, even the most formidable obstacles can be overcome.
Please help Zuzia walk. Please help give this extraordinary little girl a chance to live freely, to explore her world on her own two feet, and to embrace the childhood she deserves. Every act of support matters. Together, we can turn her struggle into a story of triumph.
