She may only be 17 days old but this baby elephant has already delighted crowds in China at her first public appearance.
The cute calf, who lives at Chimelong Safari Park, Guangzhou, has not yet been named. She is pictured shyly looking oᴜt from behind her mother’s legs as she greets adoring visitors on Monday.
The mini jumbo initially ѕtгᴜɡɡɩed to find her feet as she frolicked around on the floor during the zoo’s ‘Elephant Water-splashing Festival’, reports People’s Daily Online.

However, with a little reassurance from her mother, Jigu, 28, the Asian Elephant was soon proudly parading around her pen.
The zoo’s new addition was born to Malaysian parents on May 30.
However, despite already being heavier than most adult humans, the baby elephant is expected to reach a weight of four tonnes and a height of almost 10 feet by the time she is fully grown.

Elephants have a life expectancy of 50-70 years, meaning that they develop at a similar rate to humans.
So, after spending the last 22 months getting ready in her mother’s womb, the 200lb toddler is learning to walk at around the same age as a human child.
Aside from her exciting public walkabout, the baby elephant has been busy bonding with her mother and exploring her new home.
