Argentine football legend Lionel Messi has just officially announced a very special project called “Messi Cup” – a tournament dedicated to U16 teams from 8 top clubs in the world. This is not just a regular friendly tournament, but also a playground to demonstrate the spirit, passion and football values that Messi wants to pass on to the younger generation.
According to confirmed information, “Messi Cup” will be held annually, gathering youth teams from prestigious academies such as Barcelona, Inter Miami, Manchester City, PSG, Benfica, River Plate, and two other special guest teams. The goal of the tournament is to create a global stage for young talents to express themselves, learn, and spread the spirit of beautiful football that Messi has pursued throughout his career.
Messi shared emotionally at the announcement:
